Evaluation Consultant - Thriving Together Project

Oblong is a small charity with a passion for making life better in our community.
We run volunteering and mental well-being programmes and manage Woodhouse Community Centre. We are looking for a Consultant with experience in producing evaluation reports for community projects. 

 

Thriving Together is a 3 year National Lottery Community Fund funded project which has delivered 2 years of volunteer-led activity  based mainly in the Woodhouse Community Centre. The project aims at building local empowerment and a greater sense of community by taking the ideas, passions and skills of local people and supporting these to evolve into local community groups which bring together people from diverse backgrounds.

 

Consultants brief:

  • To work between April 1st and June 31st 2024 to complete an evaluation report on the delivery of the Thriving Together project to date
  • For the report to include:
  1. An introduction and background of the project
  2. A summary of the methodology of project delivery
  3. An assessment of current progress delivery and how it meets good-practice standards in community engagement, volunteer support and participant engagement
  4. An evaluation of project monitoring and participant feedback
  5. Key findings and conclusions
  6. Recommendations for improvements and recognition of success

 

Applicant Requirements

 

Essential Requirements:

 

  • Previous experience of evaluating community projects in the charity sector
  • At least 2 years work in community development or similar work in charity sector
  • Experience of carrying out research interviews with individuals and groups in a flexible and friendly manner with view to analyzing agreed project outcomes 
  • An ability to meet with required people in a flexible way e.g. in person or via Zoom/video link, during the day/ evening  etc
  • Experience of working with people from diverse backgrounds
  • Ability to write reports to a high standard

 

Desirable Requirements:

 

  • Experience working with communities who experience social deprivation and discrimination
  • Experience working with highly diverse populations, including marginalised groups/individuals
  • Knowledge of the local area of Woodhouse, Hyde Park, and Little London and its demographics.

 

Remuneration: 

£2500 to cover all costs incurred in producing the evaluation report

 

Conditions of employment

  • The consultant will be expected to attend an initial timetabling and project briefing meeting with Oblong staff on April 1st 2024
  • The consultant will be responsible for managing their own time and scheduling of appointments with Thriving Together staff and interviewees
  • The 1st draft of the report must be submitted to Oblong by June 17th 2024 with a final edit to Oblong by June 31st 2024
  • Any difficulties which arise in delivering the evaluation must be addressed, documented and shared with the relevant Oblong staff member at the earliest opportunity
  • Full payment will be made once the evaluation report is  completed and delivered in adherence  of the conditions stated above, and on production of an invoice.
